We actually checked out as we felt that the hotel was tired and dirty, not the accommodation we had seen on the website and our room was most definately not worth £90 an night, more £25! The room we had did have a shore view once you could see past the overgrown weeds and building rubble dumped infront of the hotel. The harbour location could be a major asset to the hotel if only they had the thought to keep it maintained. The staff were helpfull and understanding, a shame they have to deal with unsatisfied customers due to the miss- representation that the website gives and poor quality rooms! An idea might be to show the top quality room and the budget room on the website if all your rooms arn't to the same standard!

The parking facilities at the hotel where shocking, not only was it small for the size of the hotel, it was located next to an untidy bin area and filled with a skip so parking was an issue from the start! The carpark is also located next to what one must assume is the staff quarters, which had lots of rubbish around it and was overgrown with weeds and not well presented paint wise, considering this is one of the first things a customer is seeing when they pull up! The hotel interior did look tired but we did notice on arrival that there where new carpets waiting to be installed (fair enough) but I soppose one could say the reason for the dissappointment is that for the money we where going to pay after seeing a well presented room (£90) on the internet was nothing like the one we were expected to stay in. When booking we didnt inform the staff that we were on honeymoon as we where on a budget, it shouldnt matter, we chose a nice looking hotel and room from what looked like a nice looking hotel within our budget but recieved a room that quite frankly would have ruined our stay on skye, if we were not lucky enought to have found alternative accommodation and had to have stayed! The room was small and dark, bedlinen dirty and tired, the tv reception was terrible, the shore facing window tatty and about to fall in, the bathroom was dark and needed a facelift - no point in re-ciliconing the corners with nice white stuff and leaving grotty old grey grout which becomes more apparent! Also the wall paper was coming off the walls at more than one point in the room and badly scuffed and worn. All in all not a nice fresh room to spent a couple of nights even if you arn't on honeymoon and most definately not worth £90 a night!

Staff were great, price was very reasonable. Room was well-cleaned every day. Not a four star hotel but great value for money if you're just looking for a base to go mountain climbing. Had a bath en-suite. Breakfast was good. No croissants but wasn't really expecting that. View from dining room is spectacular. Mild hint of mouldy smell in bedroom, but for £30 a night unsurprising. I'd certainly suggest the hotel for anyone Munro bagging - no drying room thought, but they did offer to help out. All-round good service, seems like an efficiently run business with helpful & cheerful staff.

  • Group of friends

The staff we're really friendly I found, they'll help you out with anything you need if you ask and the breakfast service was good.

Tad hard to open window, shower power control a bit wonky, main light out, some tv channels with poor signal, nothing a handyman couldn't patch up, staff might need a bit of training to pick up on these things before the guest does otherwise it gives the impression of being a little unloved. Outdoor planters in need of some love. Bar lounge seating area where you'd sit to listen to the band a little unattractively arranged (though to be honest i'm not sure how you'd do it better), could do with cosier seating maybe, In all nothing even remotely major, still enjoyed the room, good room well cleaned by housekeeping. Left with a smile on my face and was happy to leave tips for housekeeping/waiters especially as the room rate wasn't too pricey.

  • Older travelers

Great location for exploring the island. Good food at reasonable prices and a well cooked breakfast. Having a sea view room the views from our room window can only be described as stunning!

The room was a little tired and needed some minor upgrading. The main thing being the shower control was very stiff/tight to operate and couldn't be fully switched off.

  • Older travelers

My wife and I have stayed several times before (each time for one night) at this hotel and, as expected, it was inexpensive and provided perfectly adequate accommodation and service for our purposes.

  • Couple

Clean rooms. Good views. Nice reception staff

Breakfast was a bit of a shambles, no organisation between the service staff. Poor selection of food.

  • Single

Good location the dinning room looked out onto the sea loch.

The buffet breakfast food was average main meals over priced.

  • Older travelers

    Staff was friendly and helpful.

It is old and tired. Bathroom shower was in need of much work!

  • Couple

    Actually nothing except sea view.

Horribly expensive comparing to offered services and rooms level. Looks the hotel freezed at 80's without no further investments. Unclean bathroom, missing bulbs, damaged doors, etc. Price for such level of accomodation should be max. 20 pounds.

  • Group of friends

    The breakfast was reasonable.

Room heating was not controlled from within the room and we both woke up at 1am ish in a lather of sweat. We had to open the windows to cool down but that was too cold. The floor boards above us were incredibly noisy, every foot step from above was very loud. There was no wifi. The TV reception was bad and we could not turn it up to hear it anyway. We stayed in 20 hotels around the UK booked through Booked.net, most were very good and I would recommend any of them. This hotel was by far the worst and I would definitely not recommend it.

  • Single

    Marvellous view from dining room

    decor is rather 'tired'

  • Single

I found the receptionist very friendly and helpful. she was great, thanks Lauren. The hotel was prefect for what i was looking for (a one night stay with breakfast)

The wait staff were a tad rude as i was eating by myself and although dinner was served until 2030 he made my coming down for dinner at 2000 made it was a tad late. The tv in my room was also very old and didnt work that well.

  • Group of friends

Very nice staff. Clean rooms and quiet environment. You can enjoy some beautiful views from rooms in the 1st stage. Breakfast is satisfying although sometimes you need to wait for tables and food since there are many travelers in the hotel.

The twin room is fine but the single one is a little bit small. It might be better if we chose a hotel at Portree considering the location.

  • Group of friends

Perfect place on the bank of the Atlantic ocean. A bit dated tooms, but clean and in good state.

  • Older travelers

View from room was superb. Food was generally good. Staff very helpful indeed

Furnishing very poor including very poor bed. Just needs updating then it would be a great hotel in a fantastic position.
